What a haul of tech we collected recently to celebrate Earth Day when we asked staff around the Group to hand in their old computers, tablets, laptops and phones to send off to Sustainable Tech 4 Good (ST4G)!
According to the UN, we generate around six million tonnes of e-waste every year, with IT and telecoms e-waste having doubled over the last 15 years.
Ashe has partnered with ST4G to ensure that suitable items collected will be refurbished and donated to local good causes of Ashe’s choosing.
The service is free and nothing goes to waste and even non-working tech can be used for spare parts.
ST4G focuses on working with charities and not-for-profit organisations to provide affordable, sustainable and safe tech, plug-and-play ready, for those most in need.
Head of sustainability, James Bisco said: “We’ve had a great response from everyone, and this is a wonderful example of how we can all easily contribute to the circular economy. We don’t even have to worry about the security of our data because ST4G provides certificated proof that all items are securely erased. Well done to everyone at Ashe for joining in.
“This time we managed to collect 20 laptops, three desktops, five phones and two tablets and we will regularly ask our colleagues to gather together their old tech in the future, to help this good cause.”
